Is that a useful Belief?

No doubt most of you attended the Better Business Summit this year.

One of my favourite presentations was one delivered by Chris Helder. Chris is a certified practitioner of neuro-linguistic programming specialising in advanced communication and behavioural modelling. He is a highly sought after presenter in Australia and he tells his audience that POSITIVE THINKING DOESN’T WORK!

Chris explains that “Sometimes things in life are not positive. Sometimes bad things happen to good people. If you’ve had a nightmare of a year, the last thing you want to hear is ‘Be positive!’ Instead, you need an actual strategy to dig yourself out.”

He continues to question those in the audience: how useful are our beliefs?

I was happy to hear him talk about this topic in a room full of brokers.

Many calls or meetings we have with our fellow colleagues in this industry outline how so many are really held back by some of the limiting beliefs they have about themselves, their business, the economy, the property market - and the list goes on.

So what Chris teaches you is to challenge your belief system – daily. And ask yourself the question… Is that a useful belief to have?

Here are some limiting beliefs we hear every single day in our role trying to help brokers:
  • I don’t have enough time
  • I’m too busy
  • I don’t’ have enough money for marketing
  • I hate Facebook and social media
  • I don’t have enough clients
  • I don’t have enough money
Now regardless of whether any of these are true, are they beliefs you have – AND ARE THEY USEFUL TO HAVE IN YOUR LIFE?

Because guess what?!
What you think about comes about.
Have you ever noticed that?

So if you have a limiting belief that you don’t have enough time – what do you think will happen?
You’ll be right – you won’t have enough time!
Is that a good belief to have as a business owner?
No – of course not.

So how can you change that belief? Jump online and search for Chris Helder on You Tube and watch a few of his videos. You’ll be glad you did.
